Best Bets for Your Family Vacation in Crosslake

These days, the opportunity to spend some quality time together as a family seems more and more difficult to come by. Between extra-curricular activities, meetings and conferences, social gatherings, and part-time jobs and side gigs, most families these days are busier than ever!

A family vacation can be the perfect way to take a break from all the “noise” and spend some time making memories. To help you make the most of your family’s time together on your vacation, we’ve put together a list of our favorite family-friendly activities in the Crosslake area.

Form a Family Trivia Team and Show Off Your Smarts

Trivia is a fantastic way for each member of your family to contribute their know-how to help your team take home the prize! Dad can show off his sports knowledge, the girls will handle the entertainment trivia, junior tackles the music questions, and mom can flex her history smarts.

Of course, one of the most fun things about Family Trivia is that you might be surprised about what your other family members know…for better or for worse!

We host Family Trivia at Boyd Lodge every Tuesday at 7:30 PM. Come test your trivia mettle against the other families and see if your clan comes out on top!

Ooh and Aah at a Fantastic Fireworks Display

No Fourth of July weekend is complete without some fireworks — especially if you get to watch them from your boat out on the water! Crosslake’s Annual “Celebrate America” fireworks display, now in its 49th year, provides a top-notch display of pyrotechnics launched from Sand Island on the south end of Cross Lake. This location means that no matter how you’d like to watch the fireworks — from out on the water or on the shore — you’ll find no shortage of vantage points!

Earlier in the day, you can enjoy live music in Crosslake’s Town Square, cheer on the runners participating in Grandpa’s Run for the Walleye, and stop by the Original Flea Market or the Crosslake Library Booksale!

The 49th Annual Celebrate America Fireworks display takes place on Saturday, July 6th at 10:00 PM. Check out the Event Page for more information!

Enjoy Your Fill of Baked Beans at Bean Hole Days!

For the past 80 years, folks have gathered in Pequot Lakes to celebrated Bean Hole Days! Huge cast iron kettles, filled to the brim with beans, are buried and cooked over a wood fire all night long. The next day, the kettles are unearthed, revealing tens of thousands of delicious baked beans, which are served FREE to all the attendees!

As everyone waits for the beans to bake, you can enjoy a community picnic, hang out in the beer garden, check out the crafter show and live music, try your aim at the dunk tank, and more! Of course, you won’t want to miss the “official” events of the weekend as well, such as the Burying of the Bean Ceremony, the Coronation Ceremony of Prince & Princess Jellybean, and the Crowning of Queen or King Bean.
